Black Moon foregrounds rock cliffs to frame a village under the weight of a large black moon. It is intended to create a sense of deep space and the long road of grief in response to a poem titled The Moon is Black. This painting is part of a series done in collaboration with poet, Marilyn Fox. The poem is on loss and grief, expressed visually in dark hues surrounding a group of white houses. As painter, I sought to express sadness while avoiding hopeless, leaving space for the viewer’s imagination.
